Wassup family? Its been a minute since I dropped a mix on here. This one is less focused than some of my older mixes on here, but I wanted to drop a mix for you guys to bang in your cars, at your bbq’s, block parties etc. The summer is finally in full swing… Let it be a memorable one with this playing in the background.

I put some relatively new stuff on there (Amerie, Rick Ross, & Playboy Tre), and I always throw on some classic joints in these types of mixes. I also spotlighted some Philly shit, some old, and one track from an up and coming artist “Tu Phace” who you will be hearing a lot more about in the future- I’m certain of that. I kept the vibe summery. Whether its on reminiscin’ type shit, or on some smoothed out type shit, these tracks all make sense for the season.

As always, shout out to Emil for hooking up the art work and a big shout to Federation’s Kenny Meez who is a true king on the reggae tip. He’s a dude whose podcasts I follow to stay up on reggae as best I can. Look for Emynd & Bo Bliz to collab with that man on some parties in the future.

Here’s the tracklist:

1. UGK “Swishas and Dosha”
2. Busy Signal “Hustle Hard”
3. Meek Mill “Ain’t I”
4. J Money “1st Name Last Name”
5. J Money/Yung LA “This is How We Play”
6. Vital “Herbalist”

Cash Money Throwback

I saw Emynd the other day and he’s like “you know what you haven’t done in a long time? Blogged at Crossfaded Bacon.” I was like “true.” What’s sad for him is that I know that what I’m about to post is not what he had in mind, and I legitimately tried to avoid posting it even though this song is now my ringtone, was the name of the last Quizzo team I was on, and I keep randomly blurting out its lyrics such as “James Bond, Jackie Chan, and that bitch MacGuyver,” like I have some sort of NOLA Tourette’s. My song for the summer is officially “#1 Stunna” by The Big Tymers.

I feel totally justified posting this throwback because of today’s news that Freeway is signing with Cash Money. I really don’t know exactly what that means – it makes me a little uncomfortable to be honest – but I must be psychic because for the past week I’ve been digging in Cash Money’s crates from Juvenile to the Big Tymers and back. The label as a whole is an even mixed bag of really fun tracks, misogynistic lyrics that sound intentionally ridiculous, and well-played boasting that makes me forget that I’m pushing a corny Camry if I turn it up loud enough. “#1 Stunna,” from 2000 was also on The Original Kings of Comedy soundtrack, which is why this video features Steve Harvey n’em.

“Best of Schoolly D

DOWNLOAD (Sharebee 192 kps)

This month I wanted to get back into some Philly rap shit. I put the spotlight on Schoolly D as I think he is one of the more overlooked old school rappers. Dude has SO MUCH material. I kept the tracklisting to what I would call his glory years from 86-91. PSK/Saturday Nite definitely made the mix, but this joint is more about the less played joints.

If you don’t know about Schoolly by now I suggest you google him because I’m having trouble coming up with a two sentence bio about a man many credit as the father of gangsta rap.

Anyways, DL this shit and reminisce, or get to know the mind of Schoolly.

Tracklisting:
1. Parkside 5-2
2. Dedication to all B-Boys
3. Just Another Killer
4. Coqui 900
5. Get N’Paid
6. We Get Ill
7. Gucci Time
8. Smoke Some Kill
9. Am I Black Enough For You
10. Mr. Big Dick
11. Gangster Boogie
12. No More Rock N’ Roll
13. Signifying Rapper
14. PSK
15. Put Your Filas On
16. Black Jesus
17. Education of a Black Man
18. Mama Feel Good
19. Do It To It
20. Gangster Boogie
21. Its Krak
22. Another Poem
23. Here We Go Again
24. Saturday Night

Tracey Lee “The Theme”

I spent way too much time googling this mp3 to try and dl it the other day. More time than it would have taken to rip it.

So I ripped it. Here it is.

Tracey Lee “The Theme”

And while we’re on the topic of Southwest Philly, here is some jackass talking about it.

“We Don’t Give A …”
The Remixes Digital EP

The long awaited Remix EP for Emynd’s Bmore Club/Philly Party Music Rap anthem “We Don’t Give A…” (original release here) with Rocafella/DefJam recording artist Young Chris is finally here and Crossfaded Bacon is releasing these tracks to you all for FREE, FREE, FREE! We recruited some of our favorite producers to submit remixes and we’re really happy with all of them. DJ Eli/Eli Escobar‘s excellent remix is on some updated-early 90s Native Tongue steez with blasting horns and a frenetic drum break while Cousin Cole‘s remix is equally as soulful with everyone’s favorite Sly and the Family Stone horn sample leading the charge on top of some excellent drum work. Likewise, DJ Ayres and the Nadastrom fellas give the song a complete overhaul (twice!) for two separate jukin’ remixes that differ slightly but significantly. Each of the remixes gives the track a whole new feel and we’ve played all of them out to excellent reactions in the club.

Download the Zip file below for the original and the remixes, or get each individual remix seperately. Whatever the case, thanks for the support and feel free to hit us with your comments!

Shouts out to Newt, Shareef, and Mark for help making this song happen and Steady B for the cover art inspiration!

Beans vs. B.I.G.

I’m dl’ing this right now. I’m certain its fire. Beans ALWAYS kills the mixtapes. Also, Kiss and Green Lantern got a new one out. I need that too.

ps- I’m assuming this is Beans rapping over a lot of Biggie beats.

Flamin Hotz Record Club

Head over to Flamin Hotz Website and join their Record Club. The basic pitch is that you can pay a fee ahead of time and be guaranteed delivery of all the Flamin Hotz releases in 2009. Flamin Hotz is an adventerous label that has put out two Emynd & Bo Bliz records amongst a wide variety of other stuff–some of which I’m into and some of which I’m frankly not into. But, the point is, they’re a dope label that deserves and, unfortunately in this tough economy, NEEDS your support to keep making records. So, get like me and support their ass! I paid em and so should you!

DO IT NOW!

A Note on Art Collection

"Untitled" The Boxer 1982

I always wonder who owns/sells/buys famous pieces of art. Last year Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich Sold Jean-Michel Basquiat’s “Untitled”(The Boxer) for $13.5 Million in a New York auction, after owning it for 10 years. He had this to say about art collection…

I have a lot of faith in the art market,It’s perhaps the last frontier where the best of the best will not go the way of the rest of the economy.

Cyssero “Swagg It Out” Remix

Thanks to Philly Sh*t Blogspot, Cyssero’s “Swagg It Out” Remix featuring Gillie, Mike Knox, Meek Millz, and Readi Rok. Meek goes in but he’s still a bit sloppy. Homie needs to tighten it up a bit.
