Emynd – Last Night Moombahton Saved My Life

Emynd – Last Night Moombahton Saved My Life by Emynd

Huge sample of the classic “Born Slippy” from the Trainspotting soundtrack and some classic vocals from Indeep, Moombahtoned up into something fairly smooth and heavy at the same time. If you can’t tell by now, I tend to try and make my Moombahton remixes work in more REGULAR PEOPLE club settings as opposed to uber-nerdy Dance music circles. As always, big up to the architect of this Moombahton madness Dave Nada.

Cee-Lo x Emynd – Fuck You Baltimore Club Edit

Cee-Lo x Emynd “Fuck You” (Baltimore Club Edit) Soundcloud or UserShare or 4Shared

New Baltimore Edit of Cee-Lo’s retro anthem that’s blowing up this lovely internet. I kept it tasteful by keeping the sequence nearly identical to the original, added the Baltimore dick kick beat, some Think break, chops, and claps. I mostly just wanted to give this song a more contemporary feel without losing its essence. As always, not meant to be a replacement for the original, just a quick touch-up to give it some slightly different flavor. Hope y’all enjoy it! Don’t forget to hit up the Emynd soundcloud page for more free music and follow my ass on twitter!

Deep Sang Warner Brothers Disco Mix

Deep Sang – Warner Bros. Tribute Mix for TGRIonline.com by Deep Sang

“This is a tribute mix to one of my favorite disco labels of all time, Warner Bros., that I made for Marcus Dowling’s music/culture blog, TGRIonline.com. Most of these are big time classics, but I’ve tried to throw in a few surprises from WB subsidiaries like RFC, Whitfield, and Curtom as well. It’s always a tough thing to make a tribute mix for a label like WB that had so many hits, so I can’t call this a “best of,” but it’s definitely got a lot of my favorites on it. Hope yall like the tunes, and if you’re on soundcloud don’t forget to leave a comment telling me how awesome/wack you think it is!” – Deep Sang

Devin x Eleven

Click for back cover

This is awesome and you’re not unless you download it right now and enjoy the living hell out of it! Eleven’s words on it:

“I don’t really know how else to put this… I’m a big Devin The Dude fan!

He’s the perfect combination of an exceptionally talented musician, a great MC, and a hilarious & charismatic guy. He’s been co-signed by and been on records with everyone from Scarface to Kool G Rap, The Roots to Jay-Z, Dre and Snoop to De La Soul. (And that’s only the big names! I’d be typing all day if I listed everyone that ever called him for a guest verse or some singing on a chorus.) Just before the first of the year, I sat down & started going through everything he’s ever been on to unearth all my personal favorites. While doing that, in addition to wishing I smoked weed, I got to thinking on how similar Devin was to another Dude character. Months later, the unholy combination of Devin Copeland + Jeffrey Lebowski + Joe Eleven emerged from the laboratory. And with that…”

But wait! If you like the mix, make sure you cop Devin’s new album, “Suite #420″ when it drops next week. On 4/20. (Ha) You can find buy links & all his tour dates on Devin’s myspace

Bo Bliz presents: Stevie Wonder Mix 2002

I just re-upped this for Valentine’s Day after hearing someone on my block cuss this chick out until she was crying hysterically. Yes this is old, and yes I’ve prolly posted this before, but as Stevie said, “love’s in need of love today.”

All vinyl, all classics, hot shit.

Ted Smooth Remixes

If you’re not up on the homie Ted Smooth and his remixes, you need to be. He fairly routinely takes an already popping club song and gives it some classic NY flavor. Definitely useful in certain situations. His whole library of downloads is up in the link below. My favorites are the “Daddy’s Home” remix with a couple verses from Jadakiss, the already classic “Blame It” remix with the “Down for My Ni**az” horns, and a great Dirty Money “Angels” remix. Follow dude on Twitter to stay up to date with his new heat.

The Just Blaze Collection

Sean Fennesy just posted about 200 Just Blaze productions for download. It’s a fairly comprehensive collection though I’m sure he’s missing a couple joints here and there. Regardless, it’s an excellent look for your ipods.

Meek Mill “Gotta Be Startin Something”

The bol can RAP his ass off on anything over 90 bpm. Sounding illy and so Philly on this shit on some Tuff Crew or Cool C uptempo shit. So dope. Shitty bit rate posted below but at least aint no DJ on it so you can run it in the club anyway.

True School Tuesdays: Almighty & KD Ranks

Classic Trenton shit produced by the late, great Tony D. RIP. Big ups to Noz from CB Rap for putting me onto this record. Ripped the OG version and the “Project Mix” from the 12″.

Jimi Hendrix + Foxy Brown = Foxy Lady

I don’t think this ever made its way onto anything official so I ripped it from a Killer Kuts 12″ I have. It’s a really fucking dope track. Foxy does her thing on it and Just Blaze (I think) kills the beat. Usually super obvious samples like this don’t work well, but this shit totally knocks. Additionally, I made a drum edit of the original Jimi Hendrix track to knock in the clubs. Just looped up some open drums from the Foxy track and produced around the Hendrix song. I think it’s pretty dope and should work well in the clubs for the right crowd (it goes in my “Rock Dance” folder in Serato). Thoughts and comments always appreciated.

True School Tuesdays : Mic Geronimo “Masta IC”

I’m not entirely sure why, but I’ve recently had the pleasure of rediscovering a shitload of True School rap songs that dominated my teenage years over the past couple weeks. Every Tuesday, I’m going to try and share some of my favorites from the era. Most of these songs will be pretty obvious to anyone that grew up around this time, but as the world becomes increasingly digitized, it’s easy to lose track of stuff. Hopefully this will help remedy that loss.

And starting TRUE SCHOOL TUESDAYS off proper, I chose to hit y’all off with what is strangely one of my favorite beats of all time: Buckwild’s “Masta IC” for Mic Geronimo. Geronimo is a capable MC that had a couple solid albums, but he’s not really anything spectacular on the ‘phone. Just a solid rapper who doesn’t ruin beats. But there’s just something about this beat that I’ve always found really powerful even though it’s melodically fairly understated–just a rolling xylophone line and some heavy sub bass with a boombap breakbeat as the backbone. Buckwild has always been more than competent at constructing really full sounding production with a simple sample, filtered bassline, and a break.

More stuff to come.

Cash Money Throwback

I saw Emynd the other day and he’s like “you know what you haven’t done in a long time? Blogged at Crossfaded Bacon.” I was like “true.” What’s sad for him is that I know that what I’m about to post is not what he had in mind, and I legitimately tried to avoid posting it even though this song is now my ringtone, was the name of the last Quizzo team I was on, and I keep randomly blurting out its lyrics such as “James Bond, Jackie Chan, and that bitch MacGuyver,” like I have some sort of NOLA Tourette’s. My song for the summer is officially “#1 Stunna” by The Big Tymers.

I feel totally justified posting this throwback because of today’s news that Freeway is signing with Cash Money. I really don’t know exactly what that means – it makes me a little uncomfortable to be honest – but I must be psychic because for the past week I’ve been digging in Cash Money’s crates from Juvenile to the Big Tymers and back. The label as a whole is an even mixed bag of really fun tracks, misogynistic lyrics that sound intentionally ridiculous, and well-played boasting that makes me forget that I’m pushing a corny Camry if I turn it up loud enough. “#1 Stunna,” from 2000 was also on The Original Kings of Comedy soundtrack, which is why this video features Steve Harvey n’em.
