This has been a truly huge record for me over the past year or so. It’s the one record I play of mine at nearly every single gig I’ve done over the past year. Regardless if it’s a hipster, House, or a hip-hop crowd, I’ve played it everywhere from Austin to Helsinki, and every single time I play it, it gets one of the largest reactions of the night. It’s fairly simple in its execution, but not quite as simple as some of the other Bmore Soul tracks that we all know and love. The drums knock, the synth lines add a nice touch that doesn’t let this song feel out of place next to other electronic stuff, and the sequencing really make this a dancefloor burner. When the dick beat kicks finally drop, expect hands in the air.
This should be seeing its way onto vinyl in the near future, but as of right now, here’s the mixed and mastered mp3 for your playing pleasure. Please feel free to pass it around and blog it as well.
Shouts to Starkey for the fine mixing and mastering job.

Talented producer, DJ, and rapper (not to mention all around good guy and fashion icon) Pase Rock‘s new double A-Side single “Get Money Kids/So Fu**ing Disco” is available on iTunes today. You may have already downloaded the mp3s at some point if you’re as blog savvy as the rest of us nerds, but you most certainly do not have Emynd’s “Get Money Kids” Remix or XXXChange’s “So Fu**ing Disco” Remix. Well worth your hard earned dollars and extremely dope cover art as well!
Vinyl will be available Februrary and I’m really psyched that the folks over at Dim Mak liked my remix enough to give it an official release. Shouts to the Fully Fitted Mafia as well.

Man, we just got back from Stockholm and Helsinki this weekend and we officiall CRUSHED that sh*t. Such a fun weekend. Big ups to Stefski, Agge, and the Top Billin’ boys for putting us on and allowing us to destroy their clientele with a whole crapload of Bmore, hip-hop, and house. Truly a fantastic weekend.
The madness continues as we’re back stateside this Wednesday in Philly where we are doing our next installment of “It’s The Year…” at Johnny Brenda’s with “IT’S THE YEAR 1993“! Should be an absolute rager. Click the flyer for more info:
And on Thursday, Emynd is heading back to Europe to rock out with The Count & Sinden in London town at On The Rocks. It’s going to be an officially WILD affair. Click the flyer for more details.
See y’all there!
Lastly, if you haven’t seen or heard it yet, here’s Emynd’s new track with Young Chris from Rocafella and Def Jam that can be downloaded HERE.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPP!
I’m re-posting this because many of you may have missed it when I posted it back in November of 2008, but it still sounds fresh as hell and I’m pretty sure the sharebee link below still works. This shit hard as fuck!
Today, Crossfaded Bacon is mighty proud to present the digital release of Emynd‘s newest Bmore Club track *We Don’t Give A …” with Rocafella and Def Jam recording artist Young Chris. A member of the Philly super group State Property and the hit-making duo The Young Gunz, Young Chris is one of Philly’s most versatile rappers, fully capable of making certified street shit as well as forward-thinking club jams. Emynd set out to make a contemporary sounding track that linked Philly’s tradition of percussion heavy club anthems (think Tuff Crew “My Part of Town”, Cool C “Glamorous Life”, Freeway “Flipside, and the Young Gunz “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop”) with Philly’s city-wide obsession with Bmore Club (often colloquially refered to in Philly as “Club” or “Party Music”). Chris wound up being the perfect rapper to effortlessly make that link a reality. Already getting support from a variety of DJs all across the globe, we fully expect this track to do big things both within Philly and elsewhere, and we encourage you all to distribute this track as freely as you like: post it on your blog, add it to your Myspace player, send it to your girl friend, remix it, or whatever.
And, as always, please feel free to hit us with your comments on it.
320 MP3s and even higher quality AIFFs are available below. Shouts out to Young Noz from cbrap.com for the Cool C “I Gotta Habit” cover art and even bigger shouts to US Dubstep king Starkey for helping mix this record and mastering it.

My boy at Michigan just informed me that the Black Humanities Collective at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor is putting together a conference focused on David Simon’s excellent TV show “The Wire.” If you’re interested in submitting a paper, or attending the conference, details are here and below:
This symposium proposes a critical consideration of The Wire, which treats the show as both a topic and a model of critique. Our aim is to create a space that is open and interdisciplinary. Graduate students, professors, and independent scholars working in the Humanities, the Arts, Social Sciences, Public Policy, and elsewhere are encouraged to join this collective discussion. In this sense, The Wire can serve as a common point of discussion, as a viable vehicle of social engagement in its own right and a text worthy of careful and extended investigation.
Potential paper/panel topics include:
– Urban Renewal and Decline
– Race, Place, and Visual Culture
– The Black Family
– The City as a Transnational Conduit
– Critical Masculinities and Femininities
– Media Ethics and Issues of Representation
– Sex and Sexualities in the City
– (Counter-)Public and (Counter-)Private Spheres
– Pedagogy and Educational Practice
– City and Regional Planning
– Performance and Performativity in Urban Space[

I know we’ve all heard 100 remixes of “Love Lockdown” by now, however… I don’t know about y’all, but I haven’t heard one that I’d be willing to play out. My buddy Steven Bloodbath remedied the absence this morning when he hit up my inbox with his “1993 Edit.” Besides having the best myspace address in the game (myspace.com/slutparty), he’s also a talented producer and DJ. On this track, he keeps it pretty simple for the most part, adding the “Think” break and chopping it slightly, then adding some really dope ravey synths during the hook (presumably that’s what the “1993” is referencing in the subtitle) that bolster the song without taking it so far left field that the Beckies will be thrown off. I’m really into it and I’m psyched I didn’t have to waste an hour making my own play-outtable version of this song.
Get it!!

A few words about Mr. Bloodbath before I go… Steve has always been one of my favorite DJs to go see play out in Philly. He’s really knowledgeable about a whole lot of music and has a great sense of crowd control: he isn’t scared to play crowd pleasing classics nor is he unwilling to drop some random obscure favorites. Most impressively, he really knows how to work a crowd and just OWN the room. He’s also got a great sense of humor when he’s playing, which I’ve always found difficult to do without crossing the line into ironic, kitschy-ness. He’s capable of toeing that line without stumbling over it, and he’s equally as fun to hear playing hip-hop, disco, or weird rave stuff that my ignorant ass has never heard before. His Thursday weekly “Mo’ Money No Problems” at Silk City has really filled the Thursday night void that Low Budget left when he left the 700 Club and moved to LA, but Steve’s party eventually moved in and has been going strong for the better part of the past couple years. Anyone that’s DJed in Philly knows what an accomplishment it is to hold down a consistently successful weekly in a city where they scene is so incestual, but Steve has done a really great job and I’m legitimately sad to see him moving to LA in the coming months.
He’ll FINALLY be DJing with us in November at the Bounce at the Barbary. Flyer and more details coming soon.

Haven’t posted any new ish in a while so I thought I’d post a newer track I made this weekend. While I’m not usually a fan of remixing songs that are already effective on the dancefloor in their original context, I thought a party break styled Bmore remix of “Knee Deep” would be a useful way to update the song so I can incorporate it into some of my more soulful and break-inspired Bmore sets. It’s really really simple with pretty standard drum work and some vocal samples that keep it moving forward, but all in all, I think it’s a useful, fun, and effective track.
As always, thoughts are welcomed in the comments section!

I’m posting the “one sheet†for this because I’m too lazy to write more BS. God I hate writing this stuff, but I guess it’s a necessary evil. Anyway, should be up on turntablelab and other fine stores soon. Should be going digital through Unruly in a couple weeks as well.
By the way, the covers look amazing. You can’t tell from this picture, but the cardboard sleeve is a beautiful cityscape photograph of Philly by the extremely talented Michael Penn and the cardboard sleeve will be covered with a plastic sleeve with all the graphics and text, including the drawings of Emynd and Bo Bliz by big homie Vlad from Toronto. Looks and sounds absolutely beautiful.
Big ups to Casi and Dan for putting it together, Derrick at Bustbright for the design, Starkey for the mixing/mastering, and me and Bo for killing it.

Prinse the Fly Guy is a rapper Unruly Records recently signed and this Bmore/Rap joint is definitely gonna wile the club out. A “Push It” synth melody runs through it as Prinse gets his autotune on, shouting out K-Swift, and riding the beat. Dope, useful track.

This Blaqstarr song “BANG HARD” is incredible. It’s not at all what I expected out of him, but he really rides this beat well and makes a heartfelt rap song that still knocks. Super impressed with dude’s versatility right about now.

Emil and I are stoked as a mug to hit Columbus, Ohio this Friday. Gonna kill it with some hip-hop, classics, club, and all types of all shit. I know Dave Nada has crushed that place numerous times and he’s been sending me random texts like, “y’all gonna get those bammas the fuck out of there!” We will Dave, we will.
Of Course Saturday we will be destroying shit at The Bounce back in Philly, should be a banger… Make sure you hit it up before we switch the dates around on you suckas some other shit like that.
Oh yeah… You trying to cop one sneak for five stacks? I know Jed’s not even on that level.
What you know about these McFly’s?
Besides that, we got Silk City locked down Labor Day Sunday with an all-star lineup for a K-Swift benefit. It will be all club and certainly pretty ridiculous also.
Details coming soon.
Unruly still killing em.
