For now, go download the Top Billin track from Discobelle.

Tittsworth ft Federation “Drunk As Fuck (Emynd Remix)”

Here’s a little Digi 12″ of my remix of Tittsworth‘s excellent song “Drunk As Fuck” with Hyphy superstars Federation. Titts’ idea to get Federation to spit on top of some club was really perfect, and his original song is easily my favorite song on his album 12 Steps. I believe Plant Music is releasing a “Drunk As Fuck” EP quite soon with remixes from the Top Billin boys and a really great remix by Say Wut amongst others. Look out for it! Hope you enjoy my remix as well!

DJ Technics Interviews Himself

Just stumbled across this DJ Technics autobiographical-interview that used to be hosted on Baltimoreclubtracks.com but I believe that site is down so I’m copy/pasting it here so it doesn’t get lost in the ether (i.e. internet).

DJ Technics Q & A (a self interview)

I have done tons of interviews with various mags and press, and i have only seen one honestly good article on the Baltimore Club scene.

It’s bad when i’m getting asked more questions about Chopped n Screwed music than our own scene.I have read all of these articles on our scene and its music and it’s always some guy who has more opinions about why the tracks are so ghetto or why we APPEAR to lack creativity when making tracks. So in the wake of all this madness….i will do us a big favor and i will ask myself the questions that you should know cause these cats didnt get good grades in english classes obviously.

NOTICE THIS !!!!

I am not doing anymore interviews so please do not email me and ask me any questions about doing a story for any reason. I am sorry but i’m a bit discouraged about the whole thing so this is how its gonna be until someone improves their presentation.

Baltimore Club “What It is” by Glenn Brand aka Technics

Glenn: Q – WHAT WAS YOUR ROLE IN THE INTRODUCTION OF THE MUSIC TO THE PEOPLE ??

Technics: A – IN 1991 A FRIEND AND I WERE IN MY HOUSE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET PEOPLE TO LISTEN TO A NEW STYLE OF HIP HOUSE MUSIC. SO WE CREATED A TRACK WHERE THE BEAT WASNT QUITE A 4/4 BEAT BUT A 4/4 WITH A SLIGHT TRIBAL SHUFFLE .

Glenn: Q – WHAT TRACK WAS THAT AND WAS EVER RECORDED ON RECORD ??

Technics:A – YES IN 1991 THAT RECORD WAS THE ” ITS YOUR BIRTHDAY EP ” FEATURING ” TAPP” (R.I.P). TAPP WAS A GUY THAT LOCALLY SANG AND CREATED GHETTO ANTHEMS IN THE 90’S HERE IN BALTIMORE .THE TRACK ON THE RECORD THAT HE WAS FEATURED ON WAS ” SHAKE THAT ASS ” WHICH LATER WENT ON TO BE BOOTLEGGED IN NYC BY THE GREAT DJ MR CEE IN NYC. MY TRACK WAS “DICKONTROL” ON THAT SAME RECORD.THE TRACK WAS CREATED BY ME AND MY FRIEND TIM (DAPHATDADEE). THE LOOP IN THAT TRACK WAS ME JUGGLING “THE BRIDGE” BY MC SHAN.

Emynd featuring Young Chris “We Don’t Give A…” The Remixes Digital EP

Emynd Featuring Young Chris
“We Don’t Give A …”
The Remixes Digital EP

The long awaited Remix EP for Emynd’s Bmore Club/Philly Party Music Rap anthem “We Don’t Give A…” (original release here) with Rocafella/DefJam recording artist Young Chris is finally here and Crossfaded Bacon is releasing these tracks to you all for FREE, FREE, FREE! We recruited some of our favorite producers to submit remixes and we’re really happy with all of them. DJ Eli/Eli Escobar‘s excellent remix is on some updated-early 90s Native Tongue steez with blasting horns and a frenetic drum break while Cousin Cole‘s remix is equally as soulful with everyone’s favorite Sly and the Family Stone horn sample leading the charge on top of some excellent drum work. Likewise, DJ Ayres and the Nadastrom fellas give the song a complete overhaul (twice!) for two separate jukin’ remixes that differ slightly but significantly. Each of the remixes gives the track a whole new feel and we’ve played all of them out to excellent reactions in the club.

Download the Zip file below for the original and the remixes, or get each individual remix seperately. Whatever the case, thanks for the support and feel free to hit us with your comments!

Shouts out to Newt, Shareef, and Mark for help making this song happen and Steady B for the cover art inspiration!

The 1st & 15th (Pretty Much) Mix Series is a series of mixes presented by Emynd & Bo Bliz on (or around) the 1st and 15th of every month.

Crossfaded Bacon Presents
1st & 15th (Pretty Much) Mix Series
Volume 10: Bobby Analog 02.15.2009
Outkast Party Mix

DOWNLOAD (192 kps)

This month, our homie buddy Bobby Analog hits us off with a solid mix of Outkast party anthems that’s sure to keep your after-party swerving. My only complaint with the mix is that it’s a bit heavy on Ableton time-stretching, but otherwise, it’s a dope collection and we’re psyched that Bobby hit us off with it! Definitely helping me through my case of the Mondays right now.

Tracklisting:
1. Willie Hutch – I Choose You
2. UGK Feat. Outkast – Int. Players Anthem
3. Dj Unk Feat. Andre 3000 – Walk It Out
4. Kelis Feat. Andre 3000 – Millionaire
5. Outkast – Hey Ya

Flamin Hotz Record Club

Head over to Flamin Hotz Website and join their Record Club. The basic pitch is that you can pay a fee ahead of time and be guaranteed delivery of all the Flamin Hotz releases in 2009. Flamin Hotz is an adventerous label that has put out two Emynd & Bo Bliz records amongst a wide variety of other stuff–some of which I’m into and some of which I’m frankly not into. But, the point is, they’re a dope label that deserves and, unfortunately in this tough economy, NEEDS your support to keep making records. So, get like me and support their ass! I paid em and so should you!

Emynd “But It’s Alright”

I don’t have a ton to say about this song except I love the original “Bra” (who doesn’t?) and just thought a quick Bmore/Party Break would be useful at certain parts of the night. As always with remixes of classic songs, I try to keep them as tasteful as possible, so this shit is hella simple with very basic chops. Put it in your “Opening Set Bmore” subcrate or something!

DJ Class ft Lil’ Jon “I’m the Ish” (Remix)

I’ve already had my salty little diatribe chastising the Clear Channelization of Philly radio that keeps the same 20 songs in rotation on Philly radio for 6 months and subsequently prevents the radio DJs of this city really help develop a healthy local/regional scene, so I’ll spare you those thoughts and just bask in the glory that is this song. DJ Class’s OG “I’m the Shit” was so dope that JD and Traysongz hopped on the beat to drop verses having no idea who the hell it was, and this track was just recently scooped by a major (Universal, I believe). And, of course, what better way to christen a new remix than to invite Lil Jon to get up on it and ride that beat. If you’re familiar with Bmore at all, you know damn well that besides the Lyn Collin’s “Think” break, Lil Jon “What” and “Yeah” samples are standard fare in what is known in Bmore simply as “Club music.” This represents the first time Lil Jon actually makes a non-sampled appearance on a Club song, and that’s a momentous occasion as far as I’m concerned.

Here’s to hoping this track blows on a major, major scale and helps make Bmore Club a household name.

UNRULY IS THE ISH!

The fine folks at Unruly got a certified top 40 hit on their hands.

If you haven’t heard DJ Class’s incredible “I’m the Sh*t” yet, let me first of all put you on to this amazing song with some SERIAL top 40 potential and also scold Philly radio for being so effing far behind the curve on this one. For those that don’t know Class is one of the OG Bmore Club heads responsible for some of your favorite Bmore Club joints that you know all the words to but have no idea who it is. “EAST SIDE WHERE THE F*CK YOU AT! LET ME SEE YOUR HANDS UP!” Yeah, that’s DJ Class. And “Stop Snitchin’?” Yeah, that’s DJ Class, too. Everyone in Philly knows these songs, and yet somehow, Class’s new joint is not getting any radio love while it’s getting played in Bmore, Atlanta, New York, and even LA. THIS SONG IS GETTING PLAYED 3,000 MILES FROM HERE, BUT NOT IN PHILLY?! The old guard that govern “urban” radio in Philly refuses to break songs like this, instead choosing to force-feed the new 50 Cent down our throat instead of supporting some homegrown regional music that speaks directly to the youth of this region. Sure, dudes will go ahead and play this song in a couple weeks after it’s blown up all across the country, but there is a local, regional audience that LOVES Club and Party Music here in Philly, but the DJs on the radio all but ignore it except for the 10-15 minutes a week where they do the exact same ol’ Club Music/Party Music set they’ve been doing since 2004. It’s absolutely pathetic. And these are the same dudes that wonder why we don’t have a strong regional identity? Yeah, maybe Club and Party Music isn’t the regional identity you WANT to exist around these parts, but the truth of the matter is, this type of music is popular among the urban youth of Philly and part of the reason that radio sucks so much in Philly is because the folks that run the radio refuses to treat this place like it has any regional identity. The same damn 20 songs have been in rotation for the past 7 months. So pathetic.

But back to this track… Luckily, Jermaine Dupri and Trey Songz are more forward-thinking than the bitter old heads on the Clear Channel radio stations here and layed verses down on Class’s track while wyling out to in the studio (Download it here. It’s BANGING!) Rumor has it, Puffy reached out to get down on a remix as well. So yeah Philly, excellent work being way behind the curve on this track that’s really about to do some major things.

Have fun playing catch up, old heads.
