Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II Preview

XXL Magazine ranked Raekwon’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II the sixth most anticipated album of the year … in 2007. Now here we are in ’09 wondering what politics and fall-offs have kept this album – which has high classic Wu-reunion potential – out of our sweaty little hands. Hip hop needs this, and word on the street is that we won’t have to wait much longer for the full release . I’m hoping to at least make the album a summer staple. In the meantime the latest leaked tracks sound nice and make me remember back when I had “Criminology” as the voicemail background on my corny little purple Skypager.

    “Hip-hop needs this”? Wtf? Why does hip-hop need this album? I’m moderately interested to hear it, but only because there’s a bit of hype around it here and there and I severely doubt it’s gwan be anything good. But seriously, Thembi, hip-hop doesn’t “need” a relevant Wu album!

    This album is sick. Everything I’ve heard on it has been sick. Whoever that dickhead was who put “I’m moderately interested only because…”, you sound clueless about the album and blatantly pretentious. Do the world a favor and jump off a bridge. Go

    This album is hyped not because it is wu, or because hip hop needs it, it is hyped because everything people have heard from it is like…f’ing amazing. Not amazing in like some underground, “I side with anything anti-radio” type sound, but amazing like it is just awsome. It is like the only rap album I’ve given a shit about in about 5 years. Scratch that, the only album that has given me goose bumps like virgin on prom night in about five years. I’m like a kid on Christmas eve waiting for this bitch.

    But this post actually spawned only as a pitt stop in a search to find out where I can buy it. I mean it is suppose to drop may 27th or something right? But I can’t find it listed on any store websites. What’s the deal? Does anybody know if he is still dropping it in May and where you can buy it? If he delays it anymore, even my eager ass will give up in disappointment.

    LONG STORY SHORT, THIS ALBUM IS THE SHIT. IF YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT IT, YOU BETTER FIND SOME SAMPLERS
